European Projects and Programmes
Regional development, innovation and international collaboration
are all spearheads of European policy. The European Commission promotes
this policy through the Structural Funds (ERDF, ESF) and several
other programmes.
As we are familiar with the ins and outs of programmes such as
Interreg, the 7th framework programme, LIFE and Culture 2007, we
can explicate the potential and the benefits of various European
programmes for our clients. BUITEN has a substantial track record
in assisting public authorities and other organisations to develop
successful project proposals. Our extensive European network enables
us to operate efficiently.
Our European activities include:

PORTICO Within the Interreg IVB-project
PORTICO, partners aim to redevelop inner-city locations that are
currently difficult or even impossible to develop because of their
archaeological value. PORTICO strives to take history and heritage
a competitive advantage, to stimulate future urban economic development.
The project partners (Cologne, Gent, Chester and Utrecht) will develop
and test archaeology-friendly building techniques and want to show
their past to the public in an innovative way. In Utrecht for instance,
a subterranean visitor centre and a virtual time machine will be
developed. On behalf of the city of Utrecht, BUITEN has assembled
partners form different countries and established the PORTICO partnership.
In assignment of and together with the partners, BUITEN has elaborated
the project proposal and has taken care of its –successful-
submission.

Making Knowledge Work
Making Knowledge Work (MKW) is an Interreg IVC project with the aim
to increase valorization of knowledge across Europe. The consortium
consists of 12 ambitious regions wishing to improve their regional
innovation capacity. On behalf of Brainport Eindhoven, BUITEN has
developed and submitted the project application. Making Knowledge
Work is one of the 74 out of 481 proposals that have been approved
in the 2nd call, and has in addition been denominated as ‘fast
track’ project. This status implies additional exposure and
support from DG Enterprise, DG Environment and DG Regional Policy.
With this European support, the partners will transfer and mainstream
activities, policies and measures that stimulate the take up of innovative
ideas to transform them into chances for economic value added. |
